How do I update SnStaff?
Download the newer release from SnDevelopment and replace the jar. Configs auto-merge on restart, so your edits stay. New keys are added but old values are kept, so check the upgrade notes for the values to edit by hand.
Does it support Folia?
No, SnStaff is not Folia-compatible. It targets Paper 1.20.4 and newer, including 1.21.x.
Do I need a proxy plugin?
No. SnStaff is backend-only. Put every backend on the same MySQL database and the network features work. With SQLite everything runs locally on one server.
Do I need LuckPerms?
No. The ranks module is optional and ships disabled (ranks.enabled: false), so a fresh install never touches LuckPerms groups. Turn it on and fill ranks.order when you want SnStaff to manage staff groups.
Why did a staff member's picked-up item vanish when they left staff mode?
Leaving staff mode overwrites the inventory from the saved snapshot. Items picked up or taken from a real container while in staff mode are lost. Keep staff-mode.protections.block-item-pickup and silent-containers on to avoid it. Turning either off is an explicit opt-out.
Can I use it with per-world inventory plugins?
No. Multiverse-Inventories, PerWorldInventory and inventory-sync plugins conflict with the per-server staff mode backups.
A staff member forgot their PIN. What now?
Run /staff admin pin reset <player>. If they are online they set a new PIN at once. A PIN that contains a 0 must be reset the same way, because the keypad has only the digits 1 to 9.
How do I stop logging a command's arguments?
Add the command to logs.sensitive-commands. Its arguments are masked before anything is stored, so the database, the in-game viewer and Discord never see them.
Why does a duplicated server id matter?
Staff mode backups and presence are keyed on network.server-id. Never copy data/server-id.yml to another backend. Give every backend its own network.server-id.
How do I change the Active / Inactive wording of the placeholders?
In lang/messages_en.yml, under the status: section. The same words are used wherever a state is shown.
Does it work with EssentialsX?
SnStaff can run next to EssentialsX, which only decides the load order. /vanish and /invsee are always SnStaff's own, with snstaff.vanish and snstaff.invsee. There is no hand-over to Essentials.
Why does /v not work?
vanish.aliases is empty by default, so /v stays with EssentialsX when it is installed. Add v to vanish.aliases to use it for SnStaff, then run /staff reload.
Where did /unfreeze go?
/freeze <player> toggles. It freezes the player, or unfreezes them when they are already frozen. The freeze tool does the same.
How do I talk to a frozen player?
The staff member who froze is in the freeze chat with talk mode on, so everything they type goes to the player. A bare /fc toggles talk mode. Other staff join with /fc <player>.
Why can't I enter staff mode?
You are refused while frozen, or while the items on your cursor or in the crafting grid have no room in your inventory. Free some slots, then run /staff again.
Can staff in staff mode break or place things?
No. Staff mode blocks damage, PvP, block breaking and every placement (blocks, item frames, paintings, armor stands, boats and minecarts). PvP is controlled by staff-mode.protections.block-pvp.
Who gets the staff notices?
Staff with snstaff.notify.see are told when staff join, switch or leave. Staff with snstaff.staffmode (the /staff permission) or snstaff.notify.see are told when staff enter or leave staff mode, and who froze or unfroze whom, even though entering staff mode vanishes you. Each type has a toggle under notify. Only an explicit snstaff.notify.hidden grant or a rank in notify.hidden-ranks keeps someone out; a * wildcard does not.
My nametag shows without its rank for a moment after unvanishing
That is TAB: it checks the vanish state about once a second and puts your nametag team (the prefix) back on its next check. EssentialsX vanish shows the same brief frame. It fixes itself within a second.
Vanish misbehaves: a body without a TAB entry, or invisible after unvanish
Vanish relies on the Bukkit visibility API (hidePlayer/showPlayer), like every vanish plugin. On UniverseSpigot set disableBukkitVanishAPI: false in universespigot.yml (SnStaff warns at startup when it is true). Its asynchronous tracker and packet-sending options can also break visibility for any vanish plugin; turn them off if the problem stays.
How do I spectate a player?
Run /follow <player> (needs snstaff.follow). Outside staff mode you return to your gamemode and location when it ends. A bare /follow stops it.
